(San Diego) Sept. 21, 2010- Fall is in the air, and with Halloween just around the corner, the Porto Vista Hotel is getting into the spirit with its monthly on leash Wooftop event on Friday, Oct. 1 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. for guests and dogs to have a scary good time. Guests are encouraged to dress up their dogs in costumes for fun festivities and amazing prize giveaways and owners are also welcome to attend in festive attire.

Dressed in their best, pups will have a chance to win prizes by competing in a costume contest in three categories: Best Overall Costume; Sexiest Halloween Dog; and Most Unique Pet. The Wooftop partners attending the event will provide surprise prizes to each deserving dog, as well as doggie treats, coupons for services and raffle giveaways.

This month’s lineup of exciting special guests include: San Diego Humane Society and SPCA, offering an onsite trainer, retail goods, information on training classes, community programs and details on adoptable pets; My Perfect Pet , a local pet food company; Dogs and the City, Daycare & Spa, San Diego’s premier downtown doggie daycare and boarding facility; Unleashed Dog Fitness, a dog exercise and care service; Porto Vista’s own Evolve Salon; and David Veit Photography, a seasoned dog specialist photographer, offering a free professional portrait sitting for guests’ and their dog with an opportunity to purchase photos online. Though not in attendance, Sindi Somers of Wild and Tame Wellness and Communications, an animal communicator, pet nutrition and behavior consultant, will offer a gift certificate for a one hour in-home reading as a costume contest prize.
